New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan determined Tuesday that Donald Trump violated the terms of a gag order intended to prevent him from lobbing public attacks on people involved in his criminal hush money trial, warning the former president he could face jail time if he continues to ignore the order.

Trump “is hereby warned that the Court will not tolerate continued willful violations of its lawful orders and that if necessary and appropriate under the circumstances, it will impose an incarceratory punishment,” Merchan wrote in his ruling.

Merchan said the former president would be fined a total of $9,000, as the prosecution met the burden of proof for nine of the 10 incidents that the they alleged had violated the directive. Trump would need to make that payment by Friday, the ruling states.

Merchan said while the fine in this case is not sufficient to achieve its purpose given the wealth of the defendant, he does not have the discretion to increase the financial penalty, requiring him to “consider whether in some instances, jail may be a necessary punishment.”

“While $1,000 may suffice in most instances to protect the dignity of the judicial system, to compel respect for its mandates and to punish the offender for disobeying a court order, it unfortunately will not achieve the desired result in those instances where the contemnor can easily afford such a fine,” Merchan wrote.

Prosecutors argued at a hearing with the judge that Trump violated the order 10 times through derisive social media posts and posts to his official campaign website, putting witnesses in the case at risk of feeling intimidated.

“What happened here is precisely what the order was designed to prevent and the defendant doesn’t care,” prosecuting attorney Christopher Conroy said during the hearing last Tuesday.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/04/30/dea-reclassifies-marijuana-reports/72865632007/

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will move to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug, The Associated Press has learned, a historic shift to generations of American drug policy that could have wide ripple effects across the country.

The DEA’s proposal, which still must be reviewed by the White House Office of Management and Budget, would recognize the medical uses of cannabis and acknowledge it has less potential for abuse than some of the nation’s most dangerous drugs. However, it would not legalize marijuana outright for recreational use.

The agency’s move, confirmed to the AP on Tuesday by five people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive regulatory review, clears the last significant regulatory hurdle before the agency’s biggest policy change in more than 50 years can take effect.

Once OMB signs off, the DEA will take public comment on the plan to move marijuana from its current classification as a Schedule I drug, alongside heroin and LSD. It moves pot to Schedule III, alongside ketamine and some anabolic steroids, following a recommendation from the federal Health and Human Services Department. After the public comment period and a review by an administrative judge, the agency would eventually publish the final rule.

Lawyers for Hunter Biden plan to sue Fox News “imminently,” according to a letter sent to the network and obtained by NBC News.

The letter, dated April 23, puts the Fox News Channel and Fox News Digital on notice for litigation claims arising from the network’s alleged “conspiracy and subsequent actions to defame Mr. Biden and paint him in a false light, the unlicensed commercial exploitation of his image, name, and likeness, and the unlawful publication of hacked intimate images of him.”

Biden has hired attorney Mark Geragos and his firm to represent him in the Fox litigation efforts. The letter is the second outreach to Fox this month.

Fox News agreed to pay $800 million to Dominion Voting Systems to settle defamation claims related to Fox’s airing of election fraud claims in the 2020 election. Fox News also agreed to a $12 million settlement with a former employee who alleged she was pressured to provide misleading information as part of the Dominion case.

Fox is currently facing a $2.7 billion lawsuit brought by Smartmatic, another voting system company that was the focus of Fox News coverage, as well as suits brought by shareholders against directors of the company for allowing the channel to air the allegations during its 2020 election coverage.

It is. That's why there is no significant collection of black groups or black government officials saying we need to separate cities by race. Its a pretty fringe opinion not supported by the vast majority of black people.

>Better get it together darkies - elect some officials that know the job of running a city instead of ones that just preach BS while their hand is in the till.
The quality of elected officials means nothing without money and infrastructure. You could hire the world's best economists, officials and city builders and if you give them the budget and infrastructure of your average ghetto the results will be the same. So long as school budgets are determined by local property taxes then poor people will get bad schools and rich people will get great schools and the cycle of crime and poverty will continue into perpetuity.

Nicolle Wallace spurs uproar over dire warning: Trump could force me off air if reelected
MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace made a startling prediction on Monday: should former President Donald Trump be voted back into the Oval Office, she and other journalists could find themselves forced out of their jobs.

Wallace's name quickly became a trend on the social media platform X as Americans on both sides of the aisle digested this disturbing take.
The MSNBC host made this remark while discussing the recent White House Correspondents' Dinner and a comment from President Joe Biden.

"[Trump] said he wants to be a dictator on day one," Biden told the nation. "He tells supporters he is their revenge and retribution. When in God's name have you ever heard another president say something like that? And he promised a 'bloodbath' when he loses again. We have to take this seriously."

Biden urged his viewers not to discount Trump's comments as mere campaign trail rhetoric.

"Eight years ago we could have written it off as just Trump talk," Biden said. "But no longer. Not after January 6th."

Biden then toasted the free press, and days later, Wallace shared her views.

Iraq's parliament has passed a bill criminalising same-sex relationships with jail terms of between 10 and 15 years.

Transgender people could also be sent to prison for between one and three years under the new law.

Supporters of the changes say they will help to uphold religious values in the country.

Rights groups say they are a further black mark on Iraq's record of violations against LGBT people.

Those who promote homosexuality or prostitution, doctors who perform gender reassignment surgery, men who "intentionally" act like women and those who engage in "wife swapping" will also face prison terms under the new legislation.

A previous draft of the bill - an amendment to an anti-prostitution law that was passed in the late 1980s - had proposed capital punishment for same-sex relationships.

However, this was amended after facing opposition from the US and other Western countries.

The news shouldn't have surprised the attorney general's office: Karim Khan, the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, might issue arrest warrants against senior Israeli officials on suspicion of war crimes in Gaza.

The Justice Ministry and army lawyers are working hard to prevent that from happening.

Also, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, the United States and other Western countries are striving to convince Khan to delay or prevent the issuing of warrants. But it's not clear that they're succeeding.

Israeli officials say they believe that the warrants will be served sometime this week against Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and the chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Herzl Halevi. Officials below them would be spared.

The Arizona GOP has selected state Sen. Jake Hoffman, a “fake elector” indicted last week and accused of working to overturn President Joe Biden’s 2020 win in Arizona, as a national committeeman for the Republican National Committee.

Hoffman — who was indicted Wednesday along with 17 other people, including former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani — was elected to the RNC post along with former state Rep. Liz Harris, who was expelled for reasons related to questioning Biden's 2020 victory in Arizona.

"I'm humbled and honored to have been elected as the next RNC National Committeeman for Arizona," Hoffman wrote Saturday evening on X.

"The road to saving America runs through our great state, and the RNC has a crucial role to play in supporting and empowering the Republican grassroots who fight every day against the Democratic Fascists," Hoffman added.

New York judge says 2nd Amendment 'doesn't exist in this courtroom' in ghost gun casePublic Domain
A defense attorney claims that the New York judge overseeing the prosecution of a man charged with manufacturing homemade firearms, known as "ghost guns," barred any arguments invoking the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Vinoo Varghese, the lawyer representing Dexter Taylor, said Judge Abena Darkeh explicitly told the defense, "Do not bring the Second Amendment into this courtroom. It doesn't exist here. So you can't argue Second Amendment. This is New York," the National Pulse reports.

Judge Darkeh, who has been criticized as a Bill de Blasio "DEI hire" who also serves as vice president of the Association of Ghanaian Lawyers of America, has been criticized by online commentators who have described her as a "diversity, equity and inclusion hire." She is accused of acting as "the most aggressive prosecutor in the room" and limiting the scope of Taylor's defense.

>That's perfectly legal in the US

Cite?
>>
>>1291454
There isn't a law somewhere that says you can, sure as shit isn't one that says you can't. It is perfectly legal to produce a firearm in the USA so long as you are not barred from owning that firearm. For example, you can't make a full-auto rifle, because you can't legally own one without a tax stamp that they won't sell you, so you can't do it. You can make a silencer, short-barreled rifle, or other "regulated" item so long as you do the paperwork and pay for the tax stamp, almost the same as if you were purchasing one. If you can legally own a firearm, you can build that firearm. You absolutely do not need a serial number, serial numbers are for manufacturers. There's no actual requirement for a firearm to have a serial number, only that manufacturers add serial numbers, individuals do not have to give a shit. You cannot make firearms to sell them, that's manufacturing and does require a license. You cannot transfer an unserialized firearm, if you have a homemade gun that you decide later to sell (which is legal) or give away, you'll need a gunsmith to accept it as an unserialized firearm and give it a serial number. It may be possible to do your own serial number, I'm not certain, I've not looked into that specifically. State laws vary, notably New York and California, have their own laws that may inhibit your ability to legally produce a firearm, or may require additional considerations like a serial number, I think California does that. Americans have ALWAYS made their own guns, even before it was the USA we were specifically allowed by the British to import firearms and the goods required to produce, maintain, and operate them. (>>1291075)

There is an entire industry built around supplying individuals who make their own firearms, and 3D printing has made it more accessible than ever. Fuckloads of people in the US legally produce their own unserialized firearms.

NTA but I'll do your googling for your sorry, lazy ass
https://www.atf.gov/firearms/privately-made-firearms
>Individuals who make their own firearms may use a 3D printing process or any other process, as long as the firearm is “detectable” as defined in the Gun Control Act. You do not have to add a serial number or register the PMF if you are not engaged in the business of making firearms for livelihood or profit.

>There isn't a law somewhere that says you can, sure as shit isn't one that says you can't.
This is also correct. There aren't a list of laws that say what you're allowed to do. There's a list of things you aren't allowed to do, and the government has no authority to relate your activity outside of those specific things.
>>

https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/are-%E2%80%9C80%E2%80%9D-or-%E2%80%9Cunfinished%E2%80%9D-receivers-illegal
I'm pretty sure the GayTF still hasn't managed to define 80% receivers/frames as guns. If you start with an 80% it isn't a gun and you can finish it on your own. There is no federal law saying you need a serial number on a gun you made yourself and no federal law blocking you from making your own nonNFA guns for personal use. The only issue from a fed standpoint would be making machine guns/short barreled rifles or if you were making guns to sell them. Some guy in california was making ARs for felons and got away with it because the felon hit the button on the CNC machine and not him.
any regulations about making your own gun for personal use have only come about in the last 10 or so years in blue states who want to ban guns. And there is no fucking way this shit passes the bruen test because people have been making their own guns for all of US history. IDK if NY is exactly the same as NJ, but the NJ version of this law means you are a felon if you buy a black powder kit and build your own single shot musket/davey crocket rifle. That is how fucking retarded anti gunners are

Home Office to detain asylum seekers across UK in shock Rwanda operation

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/apr/28/home-office-to-detain-asylum-seekers-across-uk-in-shock-rwanda-operation

The Home Office will launch a major operation to detain asylum seekers across the UK on Monday, weeks earlier than expected, in preparation for their deportation to Rwanda, the Guardian can reveal.

Officials plan to hold refugees who turn up for routine meetings at immigration service offices or bail appointments and will also pick people up nationwide in a surprise two-week exercise.

Lawyers and campaigners said the detentions risked provoking protracted legal battles, community protests and clashes with police – with officers in Scotland put on high alert.

Enver Solomon, the chief executive of the Refugee Council, said: “The government is determined to recklessly pursue its inhumane Rwanda plan despite the cost, chaos and human misery it will unleash. We know it is likely to cause a catastrophic system meltdown.”

Detainees will be immediately transferred to detention centres, which have already been prepared for the operation, and held until they are put on planes to Rwanda. Some will be put on the first flight due to take off this summer.

The Home Office said ratification of the prime minister’s Safety of Rwanda Act meant “the government is entering the final phase of operationalising this landmark policy to tackle illegal migration and stop the boats”.

They arrested all the Brits who thought this would be beneficial to the country.
It was a honeypot operation and the limey scum fell for it.
Ahahahahahaha!

I'm surprised this article dodn;t mention the fact that property taxes in the United States literally fucking doubled this year. Another acquisition by the federal government to sell off to support the cloward piven strategy being introduced by this new world/open society agenda.

The president spotted what journalists have to take "seriously" regarding his predecessor following the deadly Capitol riot.

President Joe Biden made a number of jabs at Donald Trump before shifting his tone to address what journalists have to take “seriously” about the former president at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday.

Biden — toward the end of his speech to the D.C. crowd — reflected on his address marking the 3rd anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack where he noted that Americans must answer “whether democracy is still” America’s most “sacred cause” this year.

“The defeated former president has made no secret of his attack on our democracy. He said he wants to be a dictator on day one, and so much more. He tells supporters he is their revenge and retribution. When in God’s name you ever heard another president say something like that?” Biden said.

He continued, “And he promised a bloodbath when he loses again. We have to take this seriously. Eight years ago, you could’ve written [it] off as just Trump talk but no longer. Not after January 6. I’m sincerely not asking you to take sides, but ask you to rise up to the seriousness of the moment. Move past the horse race numbers, the gotcha moments.”

The president — who spoke at the event as pro-Palestinian protesters greeted attendees on their way in — made light of his predecessor on a number of occasions, labelling him “sleepy Don” and mocking debate around his age ahead of the election in November.

“I’m a grown man running against a six-year-old. Well, I feel great, I really feel great, I’m campaigning all over the country: Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, I’ve always done well in the original 13 colonies,” quipped Biden before the D.C. crowd.

Yet actual adults overwhelmingly do. Minorities, women and adults with college education all vote Dems. Sounds like you're huffing on that good copeium.

The youth vote is a big part of why he got elected and why the red wave didn't happen.
