Best affordable 645 lenses are the 55mm 2.8 and the 135 2.8. But the cheapest I bought is that 80-160 f4.5 zoom for $140, that lens is still available new for $2,000. Heavy though.

Post scanning rigs. Apparently the main caveat of buying a dedicated scanner is slow as shit workflow, having to edit the picture with shitty software BEFORE moving to the next frame, and feed it manually yet.Have you built a scanning rig? Did you order the kit online? What can you make a backlight of? How do you ensure the camera is completely perpendicular and the film is correctly aligned? Tell me ideas to feed the negatives without scratching them.I have a Nikon D3300 with the kit 18-55 zoom. I've read most use a 55mm macro prime. I only have the kit lens and some "macro" extension rings. Is that good enough?Pic not mine, but an interesting setup.

I also suspect some of the banding was due to ambient light so I made it a little hood which helped I think. The kit lens with no tubes is the best yet, though the magnification is less.I found that the wide angle was amplifying any non-flatness in the film, so now I'm at 55mm. Other companies have done the same.. there is nothing to be seen from the likes of Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Fuji, Samsung or any of the companies that for years made these ultra-compact and cool looking cameras.It find it all really strange. You have a generation that simply loves this type of stuff and nothing to sell them. A touch more green might have made even more to my tastes, but I guess the somewhat desaturated look might help the flowers pop.

I just found out these can be really useful for more than just macro, which I found out that are great for getting a 1:1 ratio on your subject.What I didn't know is something like a 105mm/2.8 also makes an outstanding portrait lens along with even an all-around good prime lens. Also typically it'll be cheaper than a similar fast lens. Is this really the best type of lens for all pictures until you need some kind of zoom?
Effectively all macro means is that the lens can focus closer. It's just a normal lens other than that

>>4309479The tradeoff is that they are bigger heavier and more expensive and not as fast as a non-macro. You can usually find 70-200 zooms that are just as fast as ~100mm macros. They're good lenses but some find them a bit clinical for portraits in particular. I like using mine as a general purpose lens though, and 2.8 is fast enough for me most of the time. That said 1:1 is incredibly close and niche, if you don't do macro I'd just get a fast prime.
