See that's the problem, it's like you're playing fucking Dungeons & Dragons and having to cast pre-buffs before combat just in case you run into a heavy with a nuke. Shooting their nuke was nice, except extremely hard to pull off consistently unless you had a CL-40 or a perfect line of sight.
Now throwing a barrel at someone and detonating it in their face could be a fine mechanic if C4 did 0 damage in that scenario, because then it would be functionally a gadget that can be a makeshift grenade if you can find a barrel.

OK but have you tried actually measuring instead of going by feels? Unloading an AK on a medium's chest takes 1.2 seconds to kill them. In CS it takes 0.3 seconds for the AK to kill someone with chest shots. Literally 1/4 of the time.

I definitely think we should get gadgets back that offer destruction and airburst canisters back in exchange for lower damage on the charges themselves so point blank nukes aren't feasible, in any case

Can you guys help me narrow down this list of cape pattern + symbol combinations? The patterns on the "gallowglass" category of Highlander armor are so warped you have to get creative with the choices to get something that doesn't look like complete ass.

I just got my gamer group to pick it back up (none of us have played in over a half decade) after we got burned out on The Finals enshittening itself for months on end.

Retail is the way for single player autists, wallet be damned. It's tougher for people who are slower with games and have less time so yeah the sub model hurts.

After only subbing once you can play free during any free login forever and retail will outlast any pserver.

Retail isn't a completely solo experience. You're not killing any big bosses without a group and you can't even enter Dynamis or SoA endgame stuff. You can do a lot solo, but I think retail is best experienced with a small group of friends. The best part about being able to solo a lot of stuff means you don't need to rely on others to get ready for the hard stuff, but you still need them to actually do the hard stuff. It's a good balance. No waiting around for 20 other people just for a chance at some gear.

I agree even on experiencing the missions side solo.
I tried to do as much as I could solo but hit a hard wall on a Zilart mission and had to ask someone in my LS to help because I ran out of time and couldn't take another day of stalled progress.

I'll also say that beyond friends just because the game is more solo friendly doesn't mean that you have to coast on through never talking to anyone. You can still make friends who are doing similar things, party up and help each other out.
Even in linkshells you'll find other noobs to make friends with.

Many anons already said it: the top 10% will eventually "bully" the rest out of the game. This is also the reason why these games are only ever fun during the first few months, when everyone is still new and the exploits are not fully discovered yet.
Chivalry is a bit better than Mordhau in this regard, but the developers are complete retards, so it cancels itself out.
